Munster Band Program

Munster Band Backers will host a Garage Sale/Craft Fair in the Munster High School South Parking lot on June 23, 2012.  You can participate in several ways:

• You can rent a space to sell items or crafts by filling out an application (see below)
• Solicit spaces to friends, family or neighbors that might want to  participate by having them fill out an application (see below)
• Volunteer to co-chair the concession stand (Christine Fus is the other co-chair) or sign up to help at the concession stand;
• Volunteer to chair the organizing of workers who have already volunteered to work the Band’s table

Garage Sale/Craft Fair Table Application

Congratulations to the MHS Symphonic Band who competed for the first time in MHS history at the ISSMA State Qualifier in Chesterton, IN on Friday, April 27.  The Symphonic Band received a Gold rating for their performance.

Congratulations to the MHS Wind Ensemble who competed at the ISSMA State Qualifier in Chesterton, IN on Saturday, April 28 and the State Finals on May 5 at Lawrence Central High School, Indianapolis.

Both bands are to be congratulated for the hard work and achievements!  It’s been a great year!

The Munster Band 2012 Spring Awards Banquet will be held on Friday, May 18, 6:00-10:00pm at St. James Parish Hall, 9640 Kennedy Avenue, Highland, IN.  Cost is $22 per person.  (Please note:  graduating seniors are guests.)  Return your RSVP card, that was included in your invitation,  with payment by May 4, by placing it in the “Spring Banquet” envelope in Mr. Winternheimer’s office.  Checks should be made payable to Munster Band Backers.  Any questions, contact Elizabeth Cantu andcan219@sbcglobal.net or Kim Ballard rkballard5@aol.com.  This event will be a great time of celebrating the year’s accomplishments.

Munster Band Backers once again is offering the Zandstra Greenhouse vouchers.  Each voucher is $13 and can be redeemed at Zandstra’s Greenhouse from April 21-June 16, 2012.  Make checks payable to Munster Band Backers.  Place orders with payment in an envelope marked “Flower Fundraiser” and place in the large envelope marked “Zandstra’s” on the bulletin board in Mr. W’s office or contact Kelly Rhodes at gkrhodes@comcast.net or the munsterbandbackers@yahoo.com.  Your support of the Munster Band Program is always appreciated.

“The Wilbur Wright 7^th and 8^th grade combined band received a Gold rating at the Indiana State School Music Association Organizational Contest on March 17. Two of the three judges gave the band perfect scores and they received a near perfect from the third. Because of this the students earned a “With Distinction” award. One judge even stated, “This is the best middle school band performance I have ever heard!”  CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to the School Town of Munster students who participated in the 2012 ISSMA Band Solo & Ensemble Contest.  Thirty gold ratings and six silver ratings were awarded with 22 events advancing to ISSMA State Competition on February 25 in Indianapolis.  Results are:
